A phone held close exaggerates whatever is nearest the lens — in a profile shot, that's the nose. Step back and it shrinks.

The esthetic line (E-line) is a reference line used in orthodontics, drawn from the tip of the nose to the most forward point of the chin. How the lips sit relative to this line is one classic way to describe profile balance.
