No face is perfectly symmetrical — not yours, not anyone's. One eye sits fractionally higher, one side of the jaw carries a little more definition, the nose leans a hair off the midline, the smile pulls to one corner. Day to day these differences are nearly invisible, because your brain reads the whole face at once.
A mirror composite does the opposite of averaging: it doubles whatever each half is doing. If your left eye sits slightly higher, the left-left version now has two high eyes and reads wider; the right-right version has two lower eyes and reads narrower. Small real differences become two noticeably different faces.
That's also why the mirror test is entertainment first and measurement second. The camera angle, a small head tilt, lens distortion and where the midline lands all get doubled too. Treat a dramatic result as a prompt to measure properly — not as a verdict.

Not by itself. The mirror test is very sensitive to how the photo was taken: a slight head tilt, the camera off to one side, uneven lighting, or the midline sitting off your nose bridge will all exaggerate the effect. Face the camera dead-on, keep the light even, and drag the midline onto the bridge of your nose before judging anything. For an actual measurement, use the face symmetry test instead.
